Where are the Miracles?

Where have all the miracles gone? Many people will say that miracles happen today, but not like they did during the ministry of Jesus or the Apostles. There are occasional stories about a true miracle, or a supernatural manifestation of God; but for the most part the power of God is not manifested in the Church today. The Apostle Paul wrote that faith should be based on the demonstration of the Spirit of God and of power.

“And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be based on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God.” —1 Corinthians 2:5 (GFS)

And Jesus said in Mark 16:

“And these signs shall follow those that believe: In My name they shall cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up snakes; and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.” —Mark 16:17-18

The Apostle Paul went a step further regarding the power of God:

“Having a form of godliness, but denying the power. Avoid these people. —2 Timothy 3:5

So, where are the miracles? None of the above Scriptures seem to apply to today’s Church, in any denomination. Why?
